Peru has an unruly presence of mediation. Its natural phenomenon overwhelms my inkling sense of being and all at once I am encapsulated by a terror of unbeknownst beauty. But I can't help but feel weightlessly submersed in its otherworldly sights. Real life visions I've only encountered in paintings and displays but here I was, Peru with its recklessly absorbent nature, beholding my every emotion, and I felt naturally afloat. I have found the pinnacle at which surrealism meets reality. To stand amongst its vast terrain, a foreigner entranced, it was borderline illusory and terrifyingly wonderful.

You forget for a moment that there lives a world outside your own. That nature has been creating phenomenons all this time in silence while you lived life so quiant and small. But once you place yourself in the eyes of Mother Nature herself, in the hands of ongoing history, and in the heart of world wonders, you are gratefully silenced--your speech craves foreign tongues and alien languages to articulate the sight before your eyes that you never knew could be real, let alone experienced. You take mental photographs, queue them into buckets in your mind, and hope that your simple human capacity can fit that much beauty, can accurately remember that much serenity in that tiny brain of yours. It's pure magic just to think about how much we can hold in our frail bones and fragile skin. This is the impossible beauty of bringing different scopes of life together--a human and the physical world--and I am deeply moved by this seemingly exquisite marriage.

This is why I travel--to get away so I can return with a better sense of refreshment. For the courage to keep looking forward and the inspiration to appreciate the details when I come back. And Peru has helped me love the grand and the minute, everything from the heights held against the neverending sky to the soil that collects granularly beneath our sinking feet.

We leave so we can understand what "home" really means when we come back. We leave to return.
