Clueless
Sleeveless blouse from Marshalls // thrifted corset // H&M shorts // Dolce Vita heeled booties
As the heat of the summer slowly wears away with the sun sleeping earlier and earlier and the advent of autumn's warm glow nears upon us, I feel a twang of bittersweet nostalgia. For the past 22 years, this seasonal transition would be a scramble of back to school preparation. It didn't occur to me that one day this time of year would just be another day of another month. I would no longer need to desperately grasp onto the sweet disposition of summer break. I've seemingly reached adulthood and the disappearance of my school days has marked the official end of an era. Though it is an exciting revelation to come to, I still feel a sentimental cringe for those heavy backpack runs to class, endless buffet style of mediocre eats, skillful 20-minute naps in between classes, $2 Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays, frat party ratios and horrible jungle juices, and even those crazy all-nighters before an exam we all know too well. I can just go on about my college days but now as I reminisce, I've realized these things have also graduated to adulthood. I've slowly lost interest in things like scouting out the biggest party of the weekend or staying up as late as I want because I can skip my morning class. Instead, I'm scouting out the best Happy Hour deals and making sure I get a good amount of sleep to last the next work day. They may be subtle changes but all still indicative of what they call "growing up".
Of course, none of this means I've become an old grandma who can't hang. In fact, I have more fun hitting up NYC bars after work until the late evening hours without have a single worry over a 10-page paper due the next day.
