It's my blog's monthiversary! And to celebrate, I've decided to do something a little different, especially since I'm out in Cali enjoying every bit of my short-lived vacation. There are so many people who have such amazing style and deserve some extra recognition so I thought it'd be nice to feature a few style inspirations in my life. The first person of this segment is none other than the girl behind the camera of my photoshoots, my sister, Lara Nguyen. She's only 16 but she has so much character and unique taste in her style that I wanted to make sure people got to see it. Even though she's younger than me, I still find a lot of fashion inspiration from her. From what I've seen through all the shopping we do together, she isn't afraid to try bold items and stand out from the rest of her peers even with the strict high school clothing code. And for that, I admire her confidence in what she knows looks good and appropriate for her. This is just a quick snapshot of her eclectic and bold fashion self but definitely worth the recognition.

1. How would you describe your style?
I would say, it's really all over the place--sometimes I'm feeling girly, sometimes I'm feeling indie, but most of the time I like being edgy like Miley Cyrus

2. Who or what do you draw your fashion inspiration from?
I try to emulate Miley Cyrus a lot of times and also, I didn't really get into fashion until my sister introduced it to me

3. What made you choose this outfit?
It felt really summery and the colors were eye-catching but I really just wanted to use my top I got for $10 at Urban Outfitters

4. What would be your "Style Tip" for this outfit?
When wearing cropped bustier, pair it with a high-waisted bottom so you don't reveal too much

5. Name a few things in your closet that you must keep.
My brown combat boots, high-waisted shorts, and funky socks and patterned tights

6. Where do you usually shop?
Marshall's, H&M, thrift stores, and anywhere I can find good steals!

7. What are some trends right now that you are a fan of?
Vertical stripes, the ratchet-look like Miley Cyrus (to some extent), or even Tumblr style

Be sure to stay tuned next month to see who will be featured as my Style Inspiration!

Styled and inspired,
Mai Sunshine
