New Year's Eve is coming up! After all the holiday festivities are over, we have the new year to look forward to. Probably one of the most exciting and most anticipated celebrations as we countdown with our friends and family to midnight. And I thought, why not have a countdown of NYE outfits? I know it gives us girls an excuse to sparkle and shine with sequins all over without looking tacky or gaudy. And I personally don't think it's ever overrated for New Year's Eve parties. So for the upcoming days, from now until the 31st, I'll be posting up a series of NYE outfits so you guys can have options when you're stuck on deciding what to wear. Keep checking back each day to see what I'll be wearing next :)
In my first outfit post for the NYE series, I've chosen my shorts as my sequins piece. Funny story: I actually wore this exact outfit last NYE for some family party that I was dragged to. My sister and I were able to convince my parents to let us leave after two hours so my sister could go to a party and I could...stay at home alone because I have no friends except for the company of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (which is an amazing movie if you haven't already seen it). Anyways, I only got to wear this outfit for two hours which I was pretty bummed about because I really liked it...so why not bring it back this year if I wanted to. It's pretty simple and classy with the loose black boyfriend blazer to contrast the shimmery tight shorts and balance out the exposed legs. I kept the colors simple since I wanted the focus on the navy sequins shorts and added small details like my silver watch and red lips (a go-to for the New Year's Eve occasion).
This look is perfect for those intimate parties with your close friends or family since it's pretty simple but appropriately stands out.
So this was look #5. Come back tomorrow to see what the next NYE look is on my countdown!
Always,
Mai Sunshine
Style tip: Since the sequin shorts are short enough to show a lot of leg, balance it out on top by covering your arms a bit. The loose blazer also contrasts the hotpants-style of the shorts as I've mentioned above.
