More snapshots of my adorably adorable Jersey hometown, spent with Miss Adorable herself, Janice Thi Tran. It was her first time in Jersey so I thought I'd show her the modest areas that contrasted the bustling city before I took her to Mitsuwa. And with all the food we ate that day, I'm glad I chose a loose sweater to cover my food belly afterwards.
I opted for a casual look for our mini date. Simple black and white with a pop of red plaid (special thanks to my girl Hachi for the Christmas gift!) to complement our simple, but exciting trip. I've been eyeing a hat like this since the fall season but could never get my hands on an inexpensive one until H&M saves my fashion day once again by releasing their new items, including this hat number. I'm so excited to accessorize it with most of my looks, since it's a popular winter trend that works with any outfit. Warning ahead of time: you'll be seeing this hat appear in many future outfits (sorry, not sorry). Here I paired it for a casual and girly look, playing with different textures including knit, pleats, and pleather. I liked how the asymmetrical hem of the sweater created a continuous flow with the pleated skirt and the over-the-knee boots gave it a reformed schoolgirl look, especially with the pleather backpack that Janice let me borrow to complete the look. A simple daytime outfit for a cute outing.
With love,
Mai Sunshine
Style tip: Don't be afraid to play with a variety of textures, especially when you have a neutral color palette. Especially in this look, where the entire outfit is mainly black and white, I wanted to emphasize the pleats, knit, and pleather.
